High school students should study only the subjects they choose + письмо «Our basketball team has won the championship!» (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

There are a lot of discussions about education nowadays. Some people are convinced that pupils must learn all school subjects regardless of what form they are in, while others believe that students who attend high school should choose subjects which are suitable for them.

To begin with, I want to point out that high school pupils should study only the subjects they need. Firstly, a small part of school knowledge will be required for a future profession. For example, biology will not help a translator to

enter a university. Secondly, additional subjects cause additional problems at school. A student feels anxiety not only because of exams but also because of subjects they do not want to study in the immediate future.

Nevertheless, there are those who opine that high school students must not stop learning all subjects.

First of all, they think that students become clever when

they acquire general knowledge about everything in high school. Moreover, such general skills will be useful in life.

Anyway, I disagree with my opponents. If you study additional subjects in high school, it becomes an obligation to know all subjects perfectly. It causes stress before the future exams. In addition, there are too much different information a pupil does not need. For instance, they would not care what type of a stem of a flower they see in the meadow.

Summing up, I want to stress that high school students have a heavy workload. That is why they have no time to learn all subjects.

Dear Roger,

Thanks for your recent letter. It was great to hear from you again. I`m sorry I haven`t answered earlier, but I was really busy at school. I`m glad that you`re fine.

In your letter you asked me about sports. Well, football and tennis are popular in my country. You know, I don`t practise any sports `cause I`m not fond of sports. Actually, I don`t want to become a professional athlete - it`s not my cup of tea.

By the way, I want to ask you some questions about the museum. Where is the museum situated? What kinds of exhibitions were in the museum? What did you like in the museum?

Unfortunately, I have to go now because my mum is calling me.
