Competition has a negative effect on children, as the only thing that really matters is winning (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

Some people think that competition affect children badly, while others claim that it has a lot of advantages for children.

I strongly believe that contest is a good thing for children. Firstly, competition develops emotional control and self-discipline of children. Competition encourages children to reflect on their behaviour in an emotionally stressful situation and develop a strong personality. Secondly, competitions teach children to cooperate with others. Nowadays, the time spent on interaction and communication with other people is reduced. However, the ability to work with other people to achieve a common goal is a necessary skill for development not only in sports, but also in life. Competition allows children to learn models of social cooperation.

However, there are people who claim that competition has a wrong effect on children. They think that in a competitive environment child become aggressive because their main goal is to win. A winning attitude at all costs can easily lead to dishonest behaviour and cheating.

I cannot agree with the viewpoint above. I think that the desire to win has a positive effect on the child. Again and again, it takes outside the box thinking to win the game. Competition encourages children to challenge themselves and try something new that improves their creativity and problem-solving skills.

All in all, I still believe that competition affects children well. This develops them from all sides, improves their communication, problem-solving and creative skills.
