Explanation of the idiom ''Where there is a will, there is a way'' with examples (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)A lot of people are curious about what the popular idiom «Where there is a will, there is a way» means. Here is a short explanation supported by examples. The proverb «Where there is a will, there is a way» means that the only thing you need to succeed in something is a strong desire to do so. To put it differently, if you are passionate enough about what you are doing or planning to do, you are certain to find a way to achieve success. The word «will» in this proverb implies that you must be patient and kind of stubborn to overcome the difficulties that you can face on the way to your goal. By the way, the goal itself is a very important part of success: in case you do not know what exactly you want to get as a result, your chances to succeed are very slim because you do not know where you are going. What we have just said can be illustrated by the following example. A ten-year-old boy lives in a poor family. His parents' income is so low that they cannot afford to buy a computer. But the boy takes a keen interest in information technologies and wants to know as much as possible about this topic. Having no pocket money makes the boy sad, but he is not going to give up. On the contrary, he finds inspiration in this negative situation and wants to prove that he can change it for the better. So, the boy has a strong will. And he finally finds a way: he calls different local companies to ask if they need a worker for the summer. After a number of refusals, he is told in one of animal shelters that they need a helping hand because a few weeks ago there was a fire in their shelter. Luckily, no animals were hurt, but the building was partly destroyed and is now in need of repairs. The manager of the shelter offers the boy a fill-in summer job at the shelter. During the following six weeks the boy comes to the shelter every morning and does different kinds of work: he feeds the dogs, grooms the cats, cleans the cages, repairs the building and so on. At the end of the agreed term he gets the money he has earned. It is a small sum of money but it turns out to be enough to buy a cheap used computer through a newspaper ad. So, by the end of the summer the boy manages to make his dream come true despite all the difficulties. Now he has a computer and is able to access any information he is interested in. So, where there is a will, there is a way! Обновлено: Опубликовал(а): Linguist Внимание! Спасибо за внимание.
