Learning foreign languages… There are different points of view on this matter. Some people say the knowledge of such languages is helpful whereas others believe that you can master your mother language instead of learning something new.

As far as I am concerned, studying languages can do its' job. To start with, each person decides to themselves why they learn a foreign language. Knowledge of the language, even on an amateur level, can grant them new sensations, help them to get closer to foreign culture. Moreover, the study of the language at a higher educational institution guarantees at least the possibility of working as an interpreter and translator. All of your efforts will be paid off when you apply them correctly.

In addition, studying "dead" languages is extremely entertaining: you get the opportunity to see how the language has changed, where and in what conditions people used it and much more.

In contrast, there is an opinion that learning new languages is waste of time as it does not make sense, if you can dive deeper in your native language, study it and work on its' improvement. Then, such people also admit that learning languages takes a lot of time, patience and perseverance. Sometimes the occupation of something more simple and interesting is better and more profitable.

In fact, I cannot agree with them since the knowledge of a foreign language is an opportunity to meet new people with a completely different mentality, character, interests. Some people see this as one of the main goals in their lives. Actually, a man is attracted to the unknown. Some people think that life without learning something new is boring and does not make sense at all.

In conclusion, I would like to state that learning something new is always fascinating since, for example, the knowledge of foreign languages helps to approach goals and dreams: a person who is at least familiar with basic words and expressions will find it more easy to interact with foreigners.
