Modern generation is more stressful than their ancestors. Some people are convinced that unusual pursuits assist in becoming calm, while others believe that such hobbies would not help to diminish anxiety.

To begin with, I want to point out that creative hobbies definitely reduce the level of stress. Firstly, such activities make you feel better. Recreation always brings happiness and relief. Secondly, unusual pursuits take a lot of energy. That is why a person would not suffer from stress-related insomnia.

Finally, an unusual hobby is something unknown and interesting. It involves you in a process and encourages to distract from your worries.

Nevertheless, there are those who opine that creative activities even do harm to people. They think any recreation diverts attention when a problem still exists. Instead of resolving it, a person is busy with a hobby.

Anyway, I disagree with them. Psychologists advise a nervous person to find an activity which exactly would distract from a problem for a while. Unusual hobbies are the best way to do it. Thanks to them, our actions would be deliberate.

Summing up, I want to stress that creative pursuits are the solution. They help to get rid of the stress.

Dear Mike,

Thanks for your recent letter. It was great to hear from you again. I’m sorry I haven`t answered earlier but I was really busy at school.

In your letter you asked me about job. Well, I`m sure that a lot of teens in my country want to become a programmer, an economist, or a lawyer. You know, I think that the main factor you should consider while choosing a career is your own interest in a job. To be honest, I`ve chosen the career as a translator because I`m keen on learning new languages.

By the way, I want to ask you some questions about your school project in History. Did anyone help you with the project? Did you use the Internet to prepare for the project? What was your school project in History about?

Unfortunately, I have to go now because my mum is calling me.
