Задание 40. Opinion Essay. It is difficult to understand jokes from other countries. (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

Nowadays some people believe that humor of people from other countries is hard for understanding. Yet other people put forward the view that there is nothing difficult in that. Whose opinion is right?

It seems to me that comprehension of other culture people's jokes can cause some complications. My arguments for this point of view are listed as follows. First of all, I would like to stress that the mentality of each nation due to the distinction in its historical development is quite different.

Thus what is funny for people of one country can seem meaningless or stupid or even offensive for ones from another state. What is more, features of culture and its subtleties may not be known to foreigners, consequently jokes on these topics can not make them laugh. Especially this applies to the popular expressions from old movies and to the antics of some show business stars. In the modern world there are so-called local memes which usually known only in narrow communities. In addition, a hurdle to understanding may lie on the language barrier as it is impossible to realise a joke in the language of which you do not know.

Some people disagree because they are sure that the same things are funny for all people. Furthermore they believe that the perception of the identically jokes is alike for all nations.

However I think that not everyone laughs at the ditto situations and words. What is more, perception depends on religion and other national cultural peculiarities a lot.

To conclude, I would like to note that due to dissimilarity of humor is a problem for understanding the jokes from other countries.
