There are people who think that to be successful it is necessary to work hard, while others do not agree with this point of view and say that being capable is more important.

In my opinion, talent is of primary importance in one’s affluence. Firstly, talented people can achieve greater success as they know exactly in what sphere they are really good. Thus, they do not waste their time trying to find their place in life. Secondly, if people work in the area they are better than many others, they get promoted very soon and make brilliant careers without any specific effort.

However, there are people who think otherwise.

They believe that success does not depend that much on talent. They are sure that it is possible to develop any skills and get along by working hard and it does not matter what capabilities and inclinations people have.

Nevertheless, I cannot agree with the argument in the previous paragraph. I think that it takes too much time to gain the necessary skills if people do not have natural abilities. Only real talents can provide progress, which is proved by numerous examples of geniuses making major breakthrough in science and technology.

To sum up, I am firmly convinced that no hard work can substitute the lack of capabilities for the reasons mentioned above though the opposing opinion makes some sense.
