Technical progress is always harmful for the environment (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

What is your opinion? Do you agree with the statement?

Some people think that technical progress makes environment worse while others say that we cannot live without modern appliances and gadgets.

In my opinion, we should change ways of producing new things making them less harmful and dangerous because our planet is very small and fragile. We have to take care of Nature: we should save rainforests because they are our lungs giving us oxygen. We should use water treatment equipment near factories and plants and purify sewage water more thoroughly. We should prevent fires in the Far East, otherwise all taiga forests will be destroyed and all animals will be endangered.

On the other hand, my opponents say claim that people should live in comfort and use a lot of modern technical equipment and hardware, machinery, military hardware, weapons and equipment. All these things are needed because today people are in habit of absence of physical labour. They work, rest and travel using gadgets, furniture and clothes. Shops sell their products wrapped in plastic which is cannot be easily recycled.

I partly agree with the opposing opinion as modern human beings cannot imagine their lives without comfort and conveniences.

However, if we continue irresponsible usage of natural resources, our planet will be ruined and all humanity will die together with animals and plants. To improve ecological state of Nature, we should attract volunteers to clean our forests, cities and beaches. If we don’t take needed measures now, in the nearest future we would become ill with incurable diseases such as cancer, heart diseases, etc.

To sum up, I would say that we should produce things that can be easily recycled without any harm to Nature and Mankind. Authorities should give more money to develop sciences and invent new recyclable materials.
