Martin Iden а book report (Лондон Джек)The book was written by Jack London and it's called "Martin Iden". I chose this book because I was interested in the title. When I first saw it I thought "One more boring book about someone's life". Fortunately, after a few minutes reading I understood the I was wrong. This simple story had began so interesting that I decided to know what would happen. The story took placein the USA in California. The novel mainly was in Morz's house. The Morz vere very famous and rich family. Their house was very beautiful. There were some descriptions about streetsand other houses but they weren't so important. The main character of the novel was Martin Iden. He's a sailor. He was very tall, well-built, sunburnt, strong, brave, with wide shoulders and a strange gait (because of his work). He looked like a savage at first. It's an interesting story about the life of a poor manwho fell in love with the daughterof Mr. Morz - Ruth. In the beginning of the book Martin and Ruth met and got to know each other in the house where Ruth lived. In the middle of the book they loved each other but Iden was too unworthy to marry Ruth. As the result Martin decided to become a professional writer to have much money and be successful. He was writing lots of poems, books, stories, jokes but no newspaper wanted to poblish them. He tried a lot, sent the same story to different newspapers but all were in vain. Ruth didn't want to live with a poor and unemployed sailor so she said that she didn't love him and it was true. A few years later one newspaper decided to print one of his books called "The same of thee Sun" on their own risk. The book caused a furror. Everyone was interested in who that was, Martin Iden? After that his books, stories, jokes, poems and etc. were published in several months. He became very very popular. One day Ruth came to him and said that she loved him very much all the time and wanted to be his wife but Martin refused that time. He didn't love Ruth any more and realised that he loved not Ruth but her image of bourgeas woman. He was very upset. In the end he understood that all "top people", like Ruth, were very awfull and silly. When he swam on a ship to a quiet island in the Pacific Ocean he jumped into the water and after the second attempt he opened his langs for the ocean water... The novel "Martin Iden" made a great impression! It was really exciting to read it from start to finish. At first I worried about Martin's and Ruth's love, then I hated Ruth for her action, also I was proud of Martin actions but I felt sorry for him. His amazing life as a poor sailor became the true hell, boring and dead. I think I would like to erase my memory and read this book one more time to feel the characters, the story as it was in the first time. I'd also advised it to my friends.
