Smartphones have become an indispensable part of our life. Of special interest here is the question of possible ways to use a smartphone. I am currently working on a project aimed at establishing what people use their smartphones for in Zetland. I have found some relevant data in the form of a diagram, and below are my comments on that information.

The most remarkable feature of the statistics is that the majority of the respondents (79%) use their smartphones to send and receive emails, while making phone calls, which is often viewed as the main function of phones, comes second with 78%.

One more thing deserving attention is that paying for purchases is the least popular option and is used by only 15% of Zetland citizens.

Another important observation is that surfing the Internet (58%) is more common than playing games (48%). The latter figure, however, implies that almost half of the population polled enjoy gaming.

Unfortunately, there exists a serious problem connected with using smartphones. The matter is that smartphones store a lot of extremely important information: personal messages, photos, passwords, etc.

ut many people have a very vague idea about cybersecurity and therefore are at risk of losing their data and money. A possible solution is including more IT literacy topics in the school curriculum and organising similar seminars for adults.

To conclude, I think that the role of smartphones in our modern life can hardly be overestimated. They help us keep in touch with family and friends, find necessary information, use various services and simply have fun. In other words, smartphones make our daily routine easier and more enjoyable.
