11. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Universities should give the same amount of money to their students' sports activities as they give to their university libraries. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Nowadays it is very important for all of us to decide how the money should be used and education is becoming more and more costly with each passing year. In the universities, for example, there are at least two sources that may need money : students’ sport activities and university libraries. However, much more money is spent on libraries instead of using the same amount on people’s needs. In my opinion, this is quite an unfair thing to do. I am going to provide several reasons for my point of view in the following essay.

First of all, sport is an important part of our life.

It is often claimed that sport improves the work of our brain and may help us to get good marks more often. Probably, this is a good opportunity for busy students to improve their grades. As an example I can remember that a lot of students in middle school are equally good in sports and in studies. However, by the time they get into the university their motivation falls because the stress from learning a lot of new information and completing a lot of difficult tasks increases. I am sure that sports can help to reduce such kind of stress just because it is a different activity.

Secondly, students are the ones who do not move a lot through all the days they attend university and therefore they have few opportunities to keep fit. In my opinion, if their sports activities were financed better, it would have been a good motivation for them to visit the gym more often.

Thirdly, if a student is more successful in sports than in studies, his good work must be supported. I am pretty sure that not all of us want to become professors of some discipline in future, we are all different and football players, for example, are often very popular, so I do not see much problem in providing equal sum to both the libraries and sport facilities.

In conclusion I can say that sport is an important part of our life and it should get the same financial support in universities as libraries and other facilities that are important for successful studying.
