More and more people are starting to travel around the world. Therefore, people argue about if one should read about sites before visiting them or not.

In my opinion, it is better to read about places of interest before visiting them. Firstly, because you can find some interesting additional information about the place and find out some facts or characteristics which you would not notice when visiting the site for the first time. Secondly, reading about the history of the place can give you some advantages. Knowing the history of the site can give one an opportunity to get into the spirit of the place, understand its significance and value.

However, some people say that there is no need to read about landmarks before visiting them.

They say that there one should not waste their time on reading, because you can always hire a guide, who is a professional. A guide will tell you anything you want to know about the place and one will do it interesting because it is one’s job.

I disagree with this point of view. Guides can help you to know more about the site, but there are no guarantees that this information will be interesting something that you would like to know about the place. You cannot choose what guide will tell you about the site, but you can choose what to read about it, and what exactly are you interested in.

In conclusion, I would like to restate that reading about sites is needed if you want to make your trip more interesting and memorable.
