40. The best things in life are free (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

A matter of considerable controversy at present is the issue of whether the most enjoyable and significant things in human’s existence are material, or rather this stuff is priceless. Strong arguments exist in support of both sides of this debate which implies that it is worth examing both points of view before reaching any conclusion.

Personally, I suppose that the best things in life are free. To begin with, it is often stated that from the social viewpoint, having relationships is paramount in our subsistence.

Close relations and decent communication are considered to be impossible to buy. All pleasant emotions and fellow feelings are acquired from family members, friends and soulmates. Furthermore, from the point of the individual, personal spiritual development is beyond the material. Self-awareness, talents, inspiration and harmony cannot be bought or sold.

On the other hand, many people claim that money is essential source of luck and happiness. It is believed that one’s welfare can make humans feel satisfied.

Nevertheless, I disagree with opposing opinion as the most valuable things in subsistence such as art, nature and culture are priceless. People who are focused on finances may lose interest in genuine life due to satiation, dissatisfaction and narrow-mindedness.

On the whole, although there are those who would rank money as a measure of success, the majority would disagree. I reckon that the best things in life are free.
