Death penalty is a solution to decrease the crime rate (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

There is a popular opinion among people that especially dangerous criminals must be put to death for their actions. At the same time, many others believe that it is wrong to do this because it's not humane.

I hold the view that we can’t say with 100% confidence if it is a good way of solving problems or not. I must note that there are always lots of nuances and details like what was the purpose of crime. For example, it could be an attempt of self-defense. More than that, there always can be a mistake and an innocent man can be killed. At least I think if you kill a killer, the number of killers will not change.

However, there is an opposite point of view: the death penalty is more cost-effective punishment and a cheaper alternative to prison. In other words, if the prisoners were incarcerated for long periods in prison; the government should allocate more funds to policing the prisons and accommodating those convicts.

This means that the taxpayers have to pay bills for long term accommodation for those criminals. In my opinion this money better to spend on the healthcare system, education, etc. Furthermore, it can bring more economic advantages to the country like a safer place to visit.

I do not fully agree with this opinion. Looking from a religious point of view, people didn't give another person a life and can't take it away. I consider sending them to work or get treatment for mental illnesses are the best ways of solution this problem.

To sum up my reasoning, death penalty is not a right way of treating criminals. Even though it is practiced in some counties like USA, the rate of crime doesn’t decrease there. Killing criminals can’t serve as a deterrent in tis situation.
