40.1 Foreign language is the most important subject to study (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

Nowadays, we cannot imagine our life without a good education. Some people believe that all people should learn foreign languages while others think that there are more important subjects.

In my opinion, students should not pay all their attention to foreign languages. To begin with, not everybody has the ability to learn languages. Thus, if a student likes mathematics, it is a waste of time and energy to try to understand some language. Secondly, there are a lot of online translators and dictionaries which can help people to understand something. For example, regulation for installing or cooking recipes can be easily translated, using an online translator. Hence, you have no need to know languages perfectly.

However, my opponents consider that foreign language is the most important subject to study.

They have two arguments. Firstly, the vast majority of companies prefer employees knowing multiple languages. Secondly, with knowledge of foreign language you can work as an interpreter. Hence, you have no need to learn other subjects.

I can argue with my opponents. To get a well-paying job, you should know not only foreign languages, but also other subjects, such as economics or physics. As for the work as an interpreter, not all people are interested in it.

To sum up, students should decide independently which subject will be more important and useful for them. Although, in any case, they should have basic knowledge in different sciences to be educated and clever.
